Leelas and Inspiring events surrounding the building of the mandir as experienced and narrated by Mr. Pandu Rangaro....
It was in January 1970, I came home from my office at about 1:30pm for my lunch in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. There was a person sitting on the front porch. He had a beard and was smoking a beedi. He looked very suspicious. I wanted to ignore him. I was parking my motorcycle. The man studied my mind and came from the porch near me. When I was ready to go into the house the fakir said, I was sent by Shirdi Saibaba. He wanted to conduct a yagna in Puri Jagannadham. Therefore he asked me for a donation of 10 coconuts or equivalent money for the 10 coconuts. The entire conversation occurred in Hindi.

Generally I don't lie but since I felt this man looked like a false fakir, I replied, 'I do not have anything'. The fakir said with very loving and sweet voice, 'my dear son! Why are you lying? You have fifty rupees in your pocket and they are ten rupee notes which you withdrew from the bank on the way home'.
I was surprised and wondered how this fakir knew all these facts of truth. Who was this fakir? Although I still didn't feel to give him anything I decided to give only 10 rupees. I tried to get change from 3 neighbours. All of them declined. The fakir was watching the drama. I had no choice and I reluctantly gave 10 rupees. Then the fakir asked me to open my hand and he created vibuthi and poured it into my hand. Then he closed my hand and asked me to go into the house and open it. I opened it in front of my wife; the vibudhi became a fresh rose flower. We were dismayed because we felt the fakir was doing some black magic. The fakir asked me to keep the flower safely.

His sweet voice and this incident triggered my heart and opened my eyes and brought a change in my life. Then the fakir revealed that I am going to have many troubles in my life and that Saibaba would protect me.
My wife was pregnant at that time. The fakir asked are you going to name your child Saibaba I denied, thinking why should I get troubles from the start. I had a good job. I'm young and had a young wife. I had a good bank balance. Who is Saibaba? Why should he protect me? Then the fakir asked to give him something to drink. We gave him milk; he drank it and left mysteriously.

Inner meaning: Saibaba tested whether the soul is ready to relinquish our attachment to money? 2. The yagna in Puri Jagannath meant spiritually all the bodies of beings is called Puti (city). Jagannatha means that Saibaba is the Lord living in all the embodiments, the divine spark or soul. For the welfare of all beings or for enlightenment of all beings the yagna will the performed. 3. Ten rupees means that Saibaba wanted to give my ten senses. The three ladies who refused to give the change means that the three energies satva, raja and tama refused me (Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati) under the divine providence.

Second Episode: It was in December 1973. I was sitting outside my home translating the Vaastu Saastram (City planning) from Sanskrit to English. It was Sunday morning at 9:30am. One young man wearing koupinam, rudra garlands around his neck, wrists, and hands and also wearing vibhudhi on his forehead and hands like a Dattatreya with danda and kamandalam (wooden stick and water pot) entered into my house. I did not notice him. My wife came and told me that Saibaba had come. He again conversed with me in Hindi. His face was glowing. I had no doubt in my mind. He was like a young Shiva or Dattatreya of age 16. He asked me again dakshina as he is going to conduct a yagna in Puri Jagganadh.
This time without hesitation I asked him 'how much do you want?' Then he said 'give me all what you have'. I just opened my steel drawer and gave him everything. He was very much pleased. He poured vibuthi created from his hand into my palm. He asked me to close the palm and open it in front of my wife. When I did, it was kumkum. I shouted, 'kumkum'! He said do not shout loudly. He said Saibaba would send you to the United States to complete divine work. Saying that he left the house and flew away.

I came to the USA on 21st Sept 1976. Sri Shirdi Saibaba Temple (Organization) started in 1979 on the orders and with the guidance of Saibaba. Several yagnas and services have been performed in the USA and India for the welfare of all the denizens of the world from 1981 until today.
